Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians says Antonio Brown and Mike Edwards' COVID-19 protocol violation 'pisses me off'

Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said news of Antonio Brown and Mike Edwards' suspensions over fake vaccination cards "pisses me off" because it undermines the "amazing job" his football club has done at handling COVID-19.

"In the last two years, I don't know if there's been a team better against COVID than we've been. This is a setback because of what happened," Arians said during a news conference Friday. "But we have done an amazing job. … We have never had an outbreak in a position room."

He added: "It pisses me off, but it is what it is."

The NFL suspended wide receiver Antonio Brown, safety Mike Edwards and free agent John Franklin III for three games without pay after a review determined the "players misrepresented their vaccination status," the league announced on Thursday.

"We had two guys suspended. The league did their due diligence and we move on," Arians said a day later, adding that he will "address their future" after the players serve their suspensions. "Nothing's been decided."

Arians said the Buccaneers were cooperative during the review and hopes the league continues to look into the issue league-wide: "We've done everything. There's a lot more to that story. I just hope they don't stop looking."

When asked if he believes there might be other instances, he replied, "Maybe."

Arians said the team's focus is solely on playing the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

"It's a big, big game for us. It's a division game on the road," Arians said. "I know everybody wants the other story, but we're playing the Falcons, I don't give a (expletive) about that."
