An Iowa man has been charged with attempted murder after Pleasant Hill Police responded to an incident at Canterbury Park Apartments around 4:30 a.m Nov. 14.Officers arrived at the scene to find Rodney Russell, a 41-year-old Pleasant Hill man, had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital. Now, court documents show Russell is charged with attempted murder after allegedly starting the shootout with another man. A man had reportedly driven to the apartment complex and was seated in his car when Russell allegedly shot at him multiple times. The man reportedly returned fire from his vehicle, wounding Russell on his right temple. The man was taken into custody without incident, and Russell was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center by ground ambulance.Russel will be held without bond until his initial appearance. The unnamed man who returned fire has not been charged.
