Dave Meltzer provided some insight into the lack of interest in the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view event in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
WWE Survivor Series had 200,000 Google searches, which is usual for a B-show, not a major show like Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and WrestleMania. AEW’s All Out pay-per-view on September 5 had 500,000 Google searches.
As for AEW Full Gear, which had a lesser buzz in November than All Out, the show ended up 7.5% ahead of Survivor Series overall for Google searches. This is the second time in a row that an AEW pay-per-view beat a WWE ‘big four’ pay-per-view.
AEW beat Survivor Series in New York for searches, which is interesting because Survivor Series actually took place in New York. The search volume split for New York was 52% for Full Gear while there was 48% for Survivor Series.
