ROME TWP. — An Adrian woman died Thursday evening in a crash between a pickup and a farm tractor southeast of Onsted.

Deputies responded at 7:34 p.m. to the crash on Gilbert Highway south of Teachout Road in Rome Township, a news release from the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office said. Information provided to Lenawee County Central Dispatch was that the woman driver of the pickup truck was possibly deceased.

According to sheriff’s deputies, a 2005 Chevy pickup was traveling southbound on Gilbert Highway when it struck head-on a New Holland farm tractor traveling northbound, the release said. The driver of the pickup, a 31-year-old woman from Adrian, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor, a 19-year-old man from Tipton, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Cambridge Township Fire Department personnel.

The names of the woman and man were not immediately released by the sheriff's office.

The crash is being investigated by the Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team to determine the cause of the crash and if the driver of the pickup was wearing a seatbelt and if alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash, the release said.
