N.J. man sentenced to 14 years in state prison for aggravated manslaughter

A Little Egg Harbor man was sentenced Friday to 14 years in state prison for aggravated manslaughter, according to authorities.

Kendrick Coley, 29 of Little Egg Harbor, previously pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter on Oct. 1. for the stabbing death of Richard Pone.

Officers of the Little Egg Harbor Police Department responded to a 911 call in reference to a stabbing incident that had taken place at a residence on Maplewood Drive on May 16, 2018, police said at the time. Upon their arrival, officers located Pone in an upstairs bedroom with multiple stab wounds and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police found Coley in the garage of a house on Maplewood Drive just after 8 p.m. and arrested him on charges of stabbing the 28-year-old, authorities said.

Coley is required to serve more than 11 years before he will be considered for parole.
