SHEFFIELD, Ala. — Three people were shot in an altercation outside of a Sheffield restaurant early Friday morning.

Sheffield Police Department Chief Ricky Terry said 26-year-old Kalyn Tyjuane Horrison from Florence was taken to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition and passed away from his injuries Friday afternoon.

The suspect, James Terrell Whiteside, 40, from Muscle Shoals has been charged with manslaughter. Terry said more charges are pending.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m., outside of Jokers’ Indian Kitchen on Hatch Boulevard, Terry told News 19.

Chief Terry said the other two victims, one being the business’s security guard, were transported to local hospitals where they were listed in stable condition.

Investigators believe the altercation began inside the restaurant but escalated outside the business.

Whiteside was taken to the Colbert County Jail with a $30,000 bond.
