We’ve all been twiddling our thumbs wondering what’s going on over in Japan regarding Blue Protocol, the anime-styled MMORPG from Bandai Namco. We know that the game has been undergoing a number of beta tests. We know that L’Arc-en-Ciel will do its theme song. But otherwise the teaser drip feed from the game has all but stopped, and the last news update on game’s official site is from November 2020.

So what happened to Blue Protocol?

The last tweet out of the game’s official Twitter page was a retweet for a Bandai Namco tech demo broadcast, which showcased how the enemy AI of Blue Protocol will try to make PvE combat in the game interesting according to one Redditor’s synopsis. Otherwise, one of the game’s unofficial subreddits appears to be holding on to some hope that some news will come sometime later this year or early next year, while fansite Blue Protocol DB reports that Smilegate is on tap to be the steward for the MMO in Korea.

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess whether Blue Protocol will be undergoing any additional testing or reveal anything about its release plans around the globe. For now, it’s still a matter of hurrying up and waiting until Bandai Namco decides to pipe up once again.
