Final Fantasy 14 servers suffer from congestion issues during Endwalker launch

Congestion issues are plaguing Final Fantasy 14  servers during the release of Endwalker.

With  Final Fantasy 14  exploding over the past few months, most people had a sneaking suspicion that the game’s servers would struggle during Endwalker‘s  launch. Square Enix itself  warned players that congestion problems  were likely on the way — and it turns out that guess was dead-on. Early access for the latest expansion thus far has been a bit of a mess.

“The login server is currently congested and players may see Error 2002 when selecting a character in the Character Selection menu,” Square Enix said  on Twitter. “Should you encounter Error 2002 when attempting to log in, we apologize for the inconvenience, but ask that you wait a while before trying again.”

It’s unfortunate, as many players face connection issues resulting in having to log back into Final Fantasy 14  then wait in a several-thousand-person queue to get back in.

For all the headaches, though, it’s nothing Final Fantasy 14  hasn’t been through before. Stormblood, the game’s second expansion, was nearly unplayable during its 2017 release date. I have a distinct memory of players forming lines just to complete quests so that the servers didn’t buckle under the pressure. Truly one of the  best communities in gaming.
