Rihanna Swaps Her Mini-Miniskirts for a Quilted Bomber

The fact that it’s winter doesn’t mean Rihanna will relinquish her sunglasses. Rain or shine, this superstar will be wearing shades. For a shopping spree in New York with A$AP Rocky, the singer added stark white frames by Loewe Paula’s Ibiza to a cosy outfit that represented something of a swerve from her extreme mini hemlines. 

Rihanna wore sporty separates by London brand Martine Rose, and threw Miu Miu’s quilted bomber jacket–complete with high-shine finish–over the top. Miu Miu leather gloves and those offbeat sunglasses added to the aprés-ski feel of the outfit, but it’s unlikely her Balenciaga Knife boots would cope on the slopes. 

Since returning from her native Barbados – where she was officially named a “national hero” at celebrations to mark the country becoming a republic – she’s had to pivot her wardrobe to suit the brisk New York weather. But while at home, she made the most of the balmy temperatures in a slinky Bottega Veneta gown and Manolos, and a custom look by emerging London-based designer Maximilian.
