Drake's so-called ‘new parents' speak out regarding a picture of them together that went viral after a Thunder vs. Rockets game.

The couple that went viral consists of Renee, 71, and Jim, 75, who were sitting courtside beside the famous rapper at the Paycom center.

“Well, I knew his name was Drake,” Renee Stanley told The Oklahoman, “but I didn’t know he was a rapper, and I didn’t know how popular he was. But let me tell ya, everybody else around me let me know.”

“Just tell everybody we’re your new parents,” Renee told Drake when he asked if they could take a selfie.

“And that’s when my phone blew up,” Renee said, “because he did.”

Some may feel that Drake's cameo was unnecessary and surprising, given that both these teams are among of the league's worst. However, it turns out that the rapper is an avid fan of Toronto native Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is also a star player of the Thunder.

Typically, people who meet Drake have a particular rush of excitement or feel starstruck. However, the Stanleys played it cool, enjoying Drake for who he is and his company—without knowing his impact and fame.

“We just had a conversation like anybody sitting next to you at a game,” Jim said. “It’s just that he’s a big deal and I’m not.”

“We weren’t intimidated,” Renee said, “because we didn’t know him.”

“When you think of celebrities sometimes and how they can be real snobs, he was just an everyday person and was very cordial to us,” Jim said. “I appreciate that.”

Drake is one of the most animated celebrities in the NBA, primarily when he supports his favorite team, the Toronto Raptors. After the developing story of Drake's appearance at the Thunder-Rockets matchup, we can only appreciate the positive vibes he brings to the live games and the sport itself.
