Or so he tells the newspaper in Mannheim.

Makes sense.

Massive image control allied to acute audience awareness.

Just in – his Christmas track.

Oh boy, John Borstlap and the rest of the classical music intelligentsia isn’t going to like this.

    Cooool!

Oh dear. Not JK at his best.

    1) When you’re trying to plug your Christmas album,, you gotta appeal to as wide an audience as possible.

    2) And sorry, his is not a voice for Christmas songs. I feel like he’s about to grab Santa by the beard and start crying about life, or yelling at him for bringing the wrong toy.

  • Bloom says:

Prince was an outstanding musician notwithstanding the massive image control. The rhythmical richness of many of his songs is something yet to be explored.

  • Bloom says:

The lukewarm , conformist kitsch from the video above is quite nauseating. Mr.Kaufmann should try Prince s nutty flamboyance , but probably that would give his old ladies a heart attack.

  • Peter San Diego says:

The word Kaufman uses, “Vorbild”, means “role model” not “hero.” The latter term is already debased by overuse and it shouldn’t be further trivialized.

My personal favorite music of Michael Jackson came late in his career with the Jacksons, and early in his solo career. This includes “Shake Your Body” from the Destiny album by the Jacksons; “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough”, “Rock with You” and “Off the Wall” from Michael’s Off the Wall album with Quincy Jones; “Human Nature” and “P.Y.T.” from Michael’s Thriller album with Quincy Jones; “Another Part of Me” from the Bad album with Quincy Jones; and “Remember the Time” from Michael’s Dangerous album with Teddy Riley.
