A minor earthquake has been reported along the Marion and Boone county line. The United States Geological Survey reports the quake measured 2.8 on the Richter Scale and was centered 2.3 miles west of Pyatt or 12.5 miles east of Harrison and 28.4 miles west, southwest of Mountain Home. The quake happened at 5:54 Friday morning.

Experts say normally, earthquakes below magnitude 3 are rarely felt. However, smaller quakes from magnitude 2.0 can be felt by humans if the quake is shallow (few kilometers only) and if they are very close to its epicenter and not disturbed by ambient factors such as noise, wind, vibrations of engines, traffic, etc.

Anyone who felt the quake can let the USGS know on its website.
