Born Aug. 24, 1931 Killed in Action
Dec. 3, 1950
Private First Class Wilborn Wesley Brock wrote his last letter to his parents ending with, “Your loving son, Bud.” It was the last letter Brock would write to his parents at their West Quilley home.
Born on Aug. 24, 1931, Brock was one of eight children — five daughters and three sons.
He served in the U.S. Army in the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. Brock died Dec. 3, 1950, in the Chosin Reservoir area of Korea. His remains were never recovered.
Although Brock did not come home alive, a grateful community now honors our Hometown Hero.
An individual plaque was installed in historic downtown Griffin and is located across the street from the First Baptist Church.
The plaque is sponsored by General Storage-Otis Blake III.
