‘Back to the Future’ star among OKC Pop Christmas Convention guests

Claudia Wells as Jennifer Parker in "Back to the Future."

Fans of a 1980s time-travel hit can meet one of the stars, among many other guests, at the first OKC Pop Christmas Con this weekend.

The two-day event includes celebrity guests, a cosplay contest, Q&A panels, movie screenings, vendors, an ugly sweater contest, free pictures with Santa and a toy drive.

Headlining the event is Claudia Wells, who played Jennifer Parker in 1985’s “Back to the Future.”

In the film, a teenager in the 1980s went back in time, and as a result, had to make sure his parents met and fell in love.

The Jennifer Parker character is featured in the comic series "Back to the Future: Citizen Brown."

It’s now been longer since 1985 than the 30 years Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) traveled back to 1955.

Wells played Marty’s girlfriend Jennifer in the first “Back to the Future,” and reprised her role 25 years later in “Back to the Future: The Video Game,” which featured Jennifer Parker from two separate timelines.

The story from the game was further explored in the IDW comic-book series “Back to the Future: Citizen Brown.” In the game and comic series, an empty time-traveling DeLorean shows up in 1986. Marty McFly learns that his friend Doctor Emmett "Doc" Brown (played by Christopher Lloyd in the films and the game), inventor of the time machine, is stranded in 1931 and in danger. So Marty must again travel through time to come to the aid of his friend.

In addition to appearing at the convention, Wells will appear at a Q&A session following a screening of “Back to the Future” at Rodeo Cinema, 2221 Exchange Ave., at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Other guests at OKC Pop Christmas Con include Devin Ratray (Buzz McCallister in “Home Alone” and “Home Alone 2”) and Peter Robbins (the original voice of Charlie Brown in “A Charlie Brown Christmas”).

The show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 2101 S Meridian Ave.
