Real Madrid fans should not worry about PSG poaching young stars

Real Madrid may have drawn the ire of PSG, who are so arrogant as to think that showing interest in a player with one year left on his contract and expressed interest in a transfer is akin to cheating. And so, there is a fear that the Ligue 1 club, with their bottomless pockets, will try to steal away players from the Royal White club.

There is even a report that PSG will try to mess with Real’s ongoing negotiations with Vinicius Junior for a new renewal. Vini, of course, was PSG’s prime transfer target, as they may have been open to transferring Kylian Mbappe this summer if Real were OK with sending Vini their way. Los Blancos, obviously, declined. And that decision has been more than vindicated.

MARCA’s Jose Felix Diaz recently brought up the fears of PSG poaching young players from Real Madrid, stating that Florentino Perez has already countered by agreeing to extensions and new deals with release clauses for several young players. He points to Fede Valverde’s recent deal as one such example.

But we already knew that. For about three months, we have heard rumblings of PSG wanting to create a new rivalry with Real Madrid, petulantly swiping back at Los Blancos for their own inability to keep Mbappe happy in his home city of Paris. Not only that, but they publicly lied about him and mistreated him, leading to an interview with RMC Sport in which Mbappe clearly drew a line. And since then, he has not made it a secret he wants Madrid.

Real Madrid is still THE club

The same reason why Real Madrid fans scoff at PSG’s continued interest in Vinicius without any fear of him leaving is the same reason why they are so confident Mbappe will join and not re-sign with the Qatar-owned club for 50 million euros per year – or some other comically large sum.

Real Madrid is THE club. The prestige, the ambition, and the consistency are enviable. For years, they have been the club at the top of nearly every star’s dream list, and that remains the case. Just ask Eduardo Camavinga, who turned down more money from PSG to complete a dream move to Madrid.

Madridistas know that a love for this club transcends all, and many elite players have the fever. They want to win trophies, become legends, and play for the club in the world with the most fans. PSG has money. And that is it. As we saw with the Mbappe saga this summer, choosing money can come at the expense of respect. PSG don’t respect their players – not even their supposed face of the project. And as we saw last season with Lille’s upset, money cannot always buy you titles. Where is PSG’s Champions League crown, by the way?

There are many Real Madrid players who feel the same way as Mbappe. Or as Vinicius for that matter. Further, these are players from Spain or ingrained in the club’s ethos. They want so badly to succeed and win trophies in this kit. Their thirst for success is unquenchable, and it certainly cannot be satisfied with a stream of oil.

So do not worry about PSG. They are like every rich bully you have ever met. They are out-of-touch, self-important, and weak. Without their money, they are nothing but an illusion. And the true Madridistas of the club see past the mirage. They don’t need the excess salary to be happy. No, they need something more, and they know Madrid can provide that fulfillment moreso than any other club. Branding? You can try to buy it. PSG have. But everyone knows, reputations are earned, not bought. And PSG can never buy what Real has built.
