After the halt on group gathering last year due to the pandemic, the annual Needham blue light tree lighting is back for an in-person ceremony this year.

Last year, the blue light tree lighting ceremony was virtual to prevent spread of COVID-19 and alleviate any community concerns.

Blue light tree lighting to take place on Dec. 4 at 5-6 p.m. The event is free to the public.

This year, the tree lighting will happen on Saturday Dec. 4 from 5 to 6 p.m. The event will be kicked off with Santa Claus arriving on a Needham Fire Truck. There will also be a chance for children to take photos with Santa after the tree lighting.

Performances by Needham High School Chorale, Plugged In Band and Olin College of Fine Arts Club will also take place throughout the ceremony.

The tree lighting will take place at the town common and is free to the public.
