Anthony Fauci to Appear on Fox for First Time in Weeks Amid Conservative Outrage

Dr. Anthony Fauci will be interviewed on the Fox Business Network on Friday following reports that he has been declining requests to appear on its sister network, Fox News.

Fauci has faced strong criticism from figures in conservative politics and media in recent days, including guests appearing on Fox News and Tucker Carlson, one of the network's most prominent personalities.

The director of the the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) will speak to Neil Cavuto on Cavuto: Coast to Coast at 1:00 p.m. ET on Friday and the interview will later re-air on Cavuto's Fox News show, Your World at 4:00 p.m. ET.

While Fauci has been available to other media outlets, as recent interviews with CBS and MSNBC show, he has not appeared on Fox News for several weeks.

Politicoreported on Wednesday that Fauci has refused several requests to appear on Fox News over the past few months, including invitations from Cavuto and host Bret Baier.

He has also reportedly been refusing requests from the Fox Business Network.

The infectious diseases experts last appeared on Fox News on October 17 for an interview with Chris Wallace and before that he spoke to Cavuto on July 23. Fox News and the Fox Business Network have the same parent company.

Fauci has been at the center of conservative outrage following an interview he gave to CBS' Face the Nation on November 28 where he appeared to hit out at Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and other critics, saying "I represent science."

Cruz strongly criticized Fauci during an appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News show on Monday, calling him "the most dangerous bureaucrat in the history of the country."

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) appeared on The Ingraham Angle on Monday and accused Fauci of becoming "an open partisan."

Tucker Carlson compared Fauci to Italian dictator Benito Mussolini during his Fox News primetime show on Monday.

"If you tune in a couple years ago you may recall Fauci as a conventional public health official. He wore button-down shirts, he gave careful, precise answers that suggested deep medical knowledge. No more," Carlson said.

"After two years of being nonstop media adulation, Tony Fauci has morphed into an even shorter version of Benito Mussolini," he said.

Lara Logan, who hosts a show on Fox News' streaming platform Fox Nation, compared Fauci to Nazi doctor Josef Mengele during an appearance on the network on Monday.

Fauci responded to Logan's comments during an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes on Friday.

"What I find striking, Chris, is how she gets no discipline whatsoever from the Fox network. How they can let her say that with no comment and no disciplinary action. I'm astounded by that," he said.
