Mourning the loss of many fighters and their close Aes Sedai sister, a beautiful funeral is performed, and Stepin takes his deceased Aes Sedai's ring to return to the White Tower.

Nynaeve and Lan are concerned about Stepin's emotional state.

Moiraine and Lan discuss how they haven't been to the Tower in years, and how they need to be prepared for scrutiny within the Tower politics.

Mat and Rand arrive in the City of the White Tower, and rent a room for the night to clean up and rest before heading to the Aes Sedai.

Nynaeve arrives at the Tower but is concerned about her fellow villagers, and Moiraine assures her that she will let her know immediately when they arrive (not knowing that Rand and Mat are there).

Nynaeve is scared and intimidated by the Aes Sedai, because she knows they're going to try and recruit her not that she can channel.

Egwene and Perrin (apart of Ila's people now) run into familiar faces, the White Cloaks.

Ila and her people try to defend the villagers, but the White Cloaks overwhelm them and kidnap Perrin and Egwene.

Rand meets a strange man (he's not human) as they witness the start of the False Dragon Procession. Logain is transported in a cage throughout the city.

Mat and Rand watch where they agree to never let anything like (the madness) that happen to either of them.

Steping prepares for the returning of the ring ceremony, and delves into his emotions further.

Perrin and Egwene are restrained by the White Cloaks and given an choice, a choice that leaves one of them dead.

Nynaeve has an interesting conversation with Liandrin, with Liandrin trying to convince her to train.

Mat is looking worse by the hour, when the strange non-human man bring Nynaeve to see them. They reunite, but when she tries to heal Mat he lashes out in anger.

Egwene manages to channel, as does Perrin, and they escape the White Cloaks with the help from the mysterious wolves that follow Perrin.

Liandrin and Moiraine discuss starting Nynaeve's training, with Moiraine trying to defelct and give the girl time.

Stepin and Lan have an emotional heart-to-heart, and in the morning Lan finds that Stepin has gone missing.

He finds Stepin's body, the Warder having killed himself.

An emotional and moving funeral ensues, leaving Lan emotionally distraught.
