New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill had a huge opportunity to earn his keep on Thursday night as they hosted the Dallas Cowboys. But alas, his shining moment will have to wait.

The Cowboys spoiled Hill's first start of the season after beating the Saints, 27-17. They intercepted the veteran QB thrice in the final seven minutes of the contest to seal the win and improve to 8-4.

While the 31-year-old Hill had a solid showing with 264 yards and two touchdowns, plus running for 101 yards, his four total interceptions were ugly. He even set an unwarranted NFL record by becoming the first quarterback ever to rush for 100+ yards and throw 4+ interceptions (via StatMuse).

That certainly won't make Saints legend Drew Brees happy. The retired QB, who recently led his final “Who Dat” chant at Caesars Superdome, has been hoping for someone to replace his throne, but the Saints have yet to find one.

Early in the season, it looked like former no. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston would be that guy. But after a string of impressive performances, he suffered injuries to his ACL and MCL, forcing him to miss the rest of the season.

The Saints, who fell to 5-7, have been struggling to come out firing, failing to score in the first quarter for the fifth game in a row.

Hill will hope to rebound from the loss when they visit the New York Jets on December 12.
