Dan Hooker Returns to 145!

After suffering a crushing defeat in the late replacement fight against Islam Makhachev at UFC 267, Dan Hooker is looking to drop down to the Featherweight division. Hooker lost the fight by first-round kimura submission.

Dan Hooker has now lost three of his last four fights to the top of the LW division. Hooker is still a well-recognized name in the UFC LW division and could beat anybody in the top 5 on a given day. However, it would be a difficult road for him to get to the LW championship picture.

Dan Hooker, who made his UFC debut in 2014, was an FW during the early run of his career. After having a decent start in the division, he took some losses and the weight-cuts got tougher and Hooker moved to the LW division thereafter. Hooker found quite the success in the LW division. After having a few bad outings he went on a run. The best moment in the division for him was a near finish of Dustin Poirier in the second round of their 2020 round of the year encounter. After this fight, he got another big opportunity to fight Michael Chandler, which he lost in the first round. Hooker did break this losing streak and won a unanimous decision against Nusrat Hapaqrast. But he took a short notice fight against Islam and got outclassed in the first round. This loss to Islam Makhachev has made his position in the division a bit timid.

Hooker who is currently living in Vegas, due to the travel restrictions in his country, worked with the UFC Performance Insitute and did a test cut for FW. The results suggest positive signs for Hooker to go down in weight. Hooker had posted a post of him making the 146-pound weight limit on his Instagram.
