For some, it's just a game. For Rashunda Jones, basketball is always on the forefront of her mind, and it's kept her on the right path.
"Basketball has changed my life in many ways, as far as, because I was a troublemaker in school, from fifth to like seventh grade, I was bad and so ever since I got in there, Coach Steve's been like yo, you can't be doing this, this, that, you gotta start doing this, you gotta change your life, I'm like yeah I want to do that," said Rashunda Jones, South Bend Washington Junior.
Washington Head Coach Steve Reynolds helped steer Jones on the path towards basketball success, and has helped provide the positive influence on the court that helps fuel her.
"It's great because when you don't have it, of course I've had my mom and my dad, my whole family, but when you have it from another person, it's just really good," said Jones.
After coming up short on a state title last year, Jones and the Panthers are out for revenge, and have some unfinished business to take care of this season.
"We're not satisfied, of course going to state was really good, but we didn't win it so we can't back down, we have to go forward, and Coach Steve tells us all the time that we have a target on our back," said Jones.
Despite only being a junior, Jones already knows what lies ahead for her basketball future. Her goal is to become a coach, and for good reason.
"That you just change other people's lives, Coach Steve has changed so many people's lives, I want to do that," said Jones.
