WOODSTOCK, N.Y. — The Woodstock Film Festival is hosting four in-person events in December, starting this weekend.
On Saturday, Dec. 4, the film “Simple As Water” – about the bonds between parent and child, and the impacts of war, separation and displacement in Syria – will be shown at Upstate Films’ Orpheum Theater, 156 Main St., Saugerties, at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 each.
The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer period with the film’s producer, Robin Hessman.
Also this Saturday, the Rosendale Theater, 408 Main St., Rosendale, will host a staged screenplay reading of “Janet’s Planet” at 4 p.m. The story is about a burned-out, divorced psychotherapist fleeing Brooklyn to open a used goods shop in Saugerties.
Admission is a suggested donation of $20 per person.
“The First Wave,” about the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be shown at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Orpheum.
Tickets are $15 each and include a reception.
“Drive My Car” – described as “a haunting road movie traveling a path of love, loss, acceptance and peace” – will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.8, at the Rosendale Theater.
Tickets are $10 apiece.
