The Wrestling World Reacts To Beth Phoenix Leaving WWE NXT

We reported earlier this morning here on eWn that WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix is leaving the WWE NXT commentary team but will remain with WWE. There has been some talk that she’ll be added to the Edge vs. The Miz/Maryse feud that began on Monday’s RAW broadcast. Phoenix announced the news on social media, saying,

“Ahead of WarGames, I wanted to share that this Sunday will be my final night in NXT. While I will remain a part of WWE, I have made the choice to step away from the weekly broadcast booth to spend more time with my family. This was not an easy decision, as I have loved my three plus years and 135 episode with NXT and am incredibly proud of the brand. I will be forever grateful to Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, Nigel McGuinness, Tom Phillips, Mauro Ranallo, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Michael Cole and my entire NXT family both in and out of the ring for the amazing opportunity. NXT will always be part of me and Auntie Betty will always be a part of NXT. Leave the porch light on for me!”

Sunday’s WarGames event will be her final night in her NXT commentary role.

Following the announcement, several WWE and NXT Superstars took to Twitter to wish Phoenix well.

WWE NXT executive and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels tweeted,

“#WeAreNXT THANK YOU BETH! @TheBethPhoenix”

Vic Joseph said,

“You have been the glue that has held our team together @TheBethPhoenix – let’s go out with a BANG this Sunday at #NXTWarGames #WWENXT”

Wade Barrett tweeted,

“What an amazing friend & colleague @TheBethPhoenix is. It’s been a pleasure doing battle with you every week on #WWENXT. You are an inspiration to us all & will always be welcome back at the desk. Keep kicking ass like only you can, Betty P!”
