Coming out of the game against Hearts, it did not really feel like a win for Celtic. A Kyogo Furuhashi goal might have handed Ange Postecoglou’s side all three points but they had much bigger worries. Anthony Ralston, Jota and Stephen Welsh all ended up being forced off with injuries. And with the club heading towards a busy December fixture list, it is safe to say this was a terrible start to the month despite the big win.

Both Jota and Ralston have been regulars in the starting XI this season, and Welsh has played an important role ever since the injury to Carl Starfelt. One will be hoping that they can return to the pitch as soon as possible.

Interestingly, Starfelt returned to the starting XI against Hearts but Cameron Carter-Vickers was not even in the matchday squad. Naturally, many feared that it might have meant that the Tottenham Hotspur loanee had picked up an injury but since then it has emerged that it was a personal issue on the part of the defender.

And as tweeted out by Jo Hendry, Carter-Vickers will be available for the weekend.

Celtic handed injury boost after Hearts game

Amidst so many injury problems coming out of the game against Hearts, the availability of Carter-Vickers for the weekend is a welcome boost for the Hoops to say the least.

If Welsh is out for any significant length of time and with Christopher Jullien still not close to a first-team return, Starfelt and Carter-Vickers might be the only two centre-back options available to Postecoglou right now, while Nir Bitton and Dane Murray are capable of filling in if the situation calls for it.

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal and once again, Celtic might be in trouble, like they were earlier in the season when Kyogo and Callum McGregor were out at the same time.
