BBC star Amol Rajan slammed for joking about ‘throwing a BRICK’ at Kate Middleton & Prince William in unearthed tweets
A BBC journalist was today slammed for joking about throwing a brick at Kate Middleton and Prince William in unearthed tweets.
Amol Rajan, who presented the controversial Beeb documentary The Princes And The Press, this morning apologised for making "rude" and "immature" comments about the Royal Family.
His apology referred to comments he had made while writing for The Independent back in 2012 - and was later extended to the tweets.
The Daily Mail unearthed a number of Twitter posts from the star between 2010 - 2013, including a joke that he was about to "throw a brick at Kate and Wills".
Another tweet from the same year slammed the BBC's footage of the Trooping of the Colour, branding it "relentless, spirit-crushing monarchist propaganda".
Users on Twitter were quick to comment, with many hitting out at the BBC.
"His tweets show Amol Rajan's bias, @BBCNews should be ashamed," one person wrote.
Another said: "After the Bashir debacle, HOW can the BBC turn a blind eye to Amol Rajan and his vile tweets going back to 2012?"
Someone else added: "Has Amol Rajan been cancelled yet? Isn't that what the Wokies do when distasteful, hateful old tweets emerge?"
Rajan made his 'brick joke' in response to a tweet by his Independent colleague Rebecca Armstrong, on September 23, 2012.
Ms Armstrong had written: "Watching a mad cat programme on Animal Planet.
"Couple have a mog sanctuary mansion with bazillions of cats. I may need a lie down after this."
Mr Rajan replied: "Is that on Freeview? I'm about to throw a brick at Kate and Wills and would love a good cat sanctuary right now."
Also among the tweets was one posted on June 16, 2012 - the day of Trooping the Colour - when Mr Rajan said: "This utterly relentless, spirit-crushing monarchist propaganda on the BBC is making me ill. Need to watch some sport, quick."
Another, posted the day before Prince Philip's 90th birthday, read: "The Duke of Edinburgh, for all his faults, is also c**p at doing a tie knot. That's just not on."
Mr Rajan, who used to edit The Independent, has since apologised, saying he "deeply regrets" the "foolish" and "immature" remarks.

Apologising today, the 38-year-old journalist wrote on Twitter: "In reference to very reasonable questions about some foolish commentary from a former life, I want to say I deeply regret it.
"I wrote things that were rude and immature and I look back on them now with real embarrassment, and ask myself what I was thinking, frankly I would like to say sorry for any offence they caused then or now."
He added: "I'm completely committed to impartiality and hope our recent programmes can be judged on their merits."
Mr Rajan's apology came after his BBC documentary the Princes and The Press is understood to have sparked fury at the Palace, with the Queen said to have been "upset" by the show.
The BBC Two documentary allegedly aired "unfounded" allegations that William and his staff briefed the media against Meghan and Harry.
And it was this week claimed members of the Royal family were mulling over their next steps, with legal reps reported to have watched the second instalment when it aired on Tuesday.
