BAKER HEIGHTS, W.Va. — A firefighter was hospitalized after receiving an electrical shock at the scene of a house fire on Classic Vanville Road, according to a post Thursday on the Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page.

The firefighter, who was assigned to Baker Heights from Berkeley County Fire, was taken to Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va., in stable condition. He was to be kept overnight for observation, the post said.

He was immediately treated by medics at the scene, and while being placed in an ambulance "suffered a medical incident" that was "quickly corrected." He was taken to the hospital by the Berkeley County Emergency Ambulance Authority, the post said.

Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department Chief Corey Roberts said he could not release further details until an investigation is completed by the West Virginia State Fire Marsha'ls office, probably in a day or two.
