A Moss Point man is charged with shooting another man in Escatawpa, with the victim ending up in the hospital in Bay St. Louis.

Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Ramon Freeman is charged with aggravated assault, shooting into a motor vehicle, and possession of a weapon by a felon. Mississippi Department of Corrections has a hold on Freeman for unrelated charges.

Sheriff Mike Ezell says Bay St. Louis police notified deputies of the late Wednesday night shooting at a home on Prescott Drive in Escatawpa. When deputies got to the home, they found several people inside a minivan parked in the driveway. A search of the van turned up a handgun and shell casings were found in the driveway.

The sheriff says the shooting resulted from a suspected drug deal. The victim is from the Bay St. Louis area and a friend drove him to the hospital.

Freeman is in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center with no bond, pending an initial hearing.
