WEST PALM, Ga. -- Police in Florida have arrested a homeless man who they say stabbed a teen to death last month.
Authorities say that 14-year-old Ryan Rogers was found dead on a sidewalk in Palm Beach Gardens on November 16. Less than 24 hours after his mother reported him missing.
DNA collected at the scene linked Semmie Williams Jr. to the crime.
He was arrested for murder in Miami on Wednesday night.
Police say Williams has no ties to Palm Beach County and they don't know why he was in the area.
"The incident itself appears to be a completely random act. We do not have a motive in this case. And I would best describe it as an innocent child victim having a chance encounter with a very violent criminal," said Chief Clint Shannon of Palm Beach Gardens Police.
Williams is being held without bond in the Palm Beach County jail.
The investigation is still ongoing.
