WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Westport Police caught three people suspected of shoplifting at Ulta Beauty in Westport after a crash on Interstate 95.

Officers responded to the store on Post Road East for reports of a theft that had just occurred just before noon Thursday.

According to Police, store employees told officers three people entered the store, placed merchandise into bags they brought with them into the store, then left the store without paying for anything.

All three suspects, later identified by police as 18-year-old Daequan Turner, 20-year-old Tyjon Mitchell, and a 17-year-old male, were seen running toward Old Road, where police said a getaway car was believed to be waiting.

A short time later, police said the car crashed on I-95, and four people ran from the car and into the Saugatuck section of Westport.

Three of the four suspects were found and taken into custody on Treadwell Avenue. Police said if there was a fourth person involved, they believe that person has since left the area.

Police charged Turner, Mitchell, and the teen with third-degree larceny, third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, and interfering with an officer.

Turner and Mitchell were each held on a $10,000 bond and will be transported to Stamford Superior Court Friday, according to police.

The juvenile was released to a parent Thursday night.
