Britney Spears celebrates 40th birthday: ‘I’m so blessed and grateful’

Happy birthday, Britney Spears!

The pop star turned 40 on Thursday, marking her first birthday as a free woman since the termination of her nearly 14-year conservatorship.

“I’m so blessed and grateful !!!!” Spears wrote on Instagram in celebration of her special day. “Tears of joy today 🥲 … Thank you for all the b-day wishes 🥳🎂🎈🎉 !!!!”

She added, “Psss I didn’t even drink the champagne 🥂 no lie !!!!”

One day prior, the “Toxic” singer shared a video from @cutebabyl0vers of an infant soaking up the sun and taking a nap in a pool float.

“I’ve retired and am just living the life 😂😂😂 !!!!⁣” she joked in the caption.

Spears also poked fun at the recent pics paparazzi snapped of her out and about in Los Angeles ahead of her milestone birthday.

“Right when I got home I had a PFC … it means ‘party for confidence,’” she explained. “I swear if you have confidence struggles or low self esteem and need to practice walking with your head held high and kinda hunched over … you must try it !!!!”

Though this marked her first-ever PFC — a celebration we can only hope will become a pre-birthday ritual every year — she said the steps were as follows:

  1. Put some heels 👠 on and a dress 👗 !!! ⁣
  2. Put sparkles ✨ on your body !!!!
  3. Put on @nickiminaj and play it LOUD 🎶 !!! ⁣
  4. Put some lip gloss on … the kind you want to eat 💄👄 !!! ⁣
  5. Keep your head held high no matter what and just shake what ya mama gave ya 🍑 !!! ⁣
After being freed from her conservatorship on Nov. 12, Spears said she was going to be “celebrating my freedom and my B day for the next two months.” Instagram

Spears has been vocal in recent months about regaining her confidence, staying positive, celebrating life and looking forward to the future post-conservatorship.

“I actually got my first glass of champagne 🥂 at the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever seen,” Spears revealed via Instagram on Nov. 15, days after Judge Brenda Penny officially freed her from the conservatorship of both the person and estate.

“I’m celebrating my freedom and my B day for the next two months. I mean after 13 years … I think I’ve waited long ENOUGH !!!!”

The “Gimme More” singer has also expressed her desire to hopefully expand her family with fiancé Sam Asghari. Spears already shares two children — Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15 — with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

“I’m thinking about having another baby!!!” Spears wrote in the caption of a black-and-white Instagram pic featuring the feet of a mother and her baby.
