It begins on Dec. 4, 2021, at 12:39 a.m. (Eastern) and reaches its maximum eclipse at 2:33 a.m. (Eastern). It will end at 4:37 a.m. (Eastern). This will be the last total solar eclipse until 2023. It will darken the sky over Antarctica and can be viewed in southern parts of Australia, New Zealand, Africa and South America. This eclipse is a bit unusual, as total solar eclipses usually move from west to east. This one, instead, will move from east to west across West Antarctica.
