A fire early Thursday afternoon damaged a home for sale in the 4000 block of Freemansburg Avenue in Bethlehem Township, authorities said.
The first call came in just before 1:30 p.m. and the fire was under control within 25 minutes in the tan brick, single-story, 4,000-square-foot ranch home, township fire Chief C.J. Kuronya told lehighvalleylive.com. Two alarms were called and as many as 35 firefighters responded, he added.
The home was being offered for $550,000 by Morganelli Properties.
No one was living in the home that is set back from the busy road, Kuronya said. No one was injured fighting the fire, he said.
The fire was contained to the interior of the home, Kuronya said. Smoke poured from the building but flames did not damage the exterior, a witness said.
Windows were opened and firefighters were on the roof venting the structure just before 2 p.m.
An investigation by the township fire marshal’s office with the assistance of the Palmer Township Municipal Fire Department will aim to determine the cause and ignition point, Kuronya said. By 4:30 p.m., some fire personnel remained on the scene, but the investigation was not complete, he said.
The Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Co., Nancy Run Fire Co., township EMS personnel and township police responded to the first alarm, Kuronya said. The second alarm brought firefighters from Palmer, Lower Saucon Township and the Upper Nazareth Township rapid intervention team, he added.
