High school roundup: Dunnellon Tigers stay unbeaten

The Dunnellon boys basketball team got 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals from sophomore guard Aramys Rodriguez to claim a 53-46 victory against visiting West Port on Wednesday night.

Teammates Devontae Grant (12 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals) and Colton Lee (9 points, 4 steals) also had big nights for DHS (3-0), which will visit Belleview on Friday at 7:30 p.m. WPHS (1-2) will look to bounce back at home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Forest.

Trinity Catholic 64, Suwannee 33: At TC, fresh off the football field, Elijah Russell (13 points, 5 rebounds) led the Celtics.

Teammates Greg Maxwell (12 points, 6 rebounds), Chris Heard (10 points, 3 blocks) and KJ Farfan (8 points, 3 assists) also had nice nights for Trinity (4-0), which will visit Trenton on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Girls basketball

West Port 41, Williston 26: At WPHS, the Wolf Pack were led by Mileyka Rodriquez Mercado (11 points, 7 steals, 5 rebounds), Trinity Goodson (9 points, 2 steals), Aaliyah Grant (4 points, 10 rebounds), N’Yanni Washington (7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists), Sage McCloud (6 points, 5 rebounds) and Alyssa Beckford (4 points, 8 steals).

West Port (4-0) will host P.K. Yonge on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Trinity Catholic 58, Suwannee 42: At Suwannee, the Celtics were paced by Rose Gravel (19 points, 12 rebounds), Delaney Baker (15 points, 9 rebounds), Kieley Bateman (14 points, 8 rebounds) and Heaven Sanders (9 points, 7 assists).

Trinity (5-2) will visit Belleview on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Buchholz 58, Forest 32: At FHS, the Wildcats (0-5) will host Vanguard on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Boys soccer

Trinity Catholic 3, Vanguard 0: At Trinity Catholic, the Celtics (5-1) will enter Friday’s 7:20 game at Jacksonville University Christian having won five straight, while the Knights (3-4) will host Forest at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Forest 5, Lake Weir 0: At LWHS, the Wildcats (3-2) broke open a close game with 4 goals in the second half and will visit Vanguard on Friday at 7 p.m., while the Hurricanes (1-5) will travel to West Port on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Girls soccer

Trinity Catholic 6, Daytona Beach Father Lopez 0: At TC, the Celtics (5-0) got 3 goals from Kaley Alava, 2 from Taryn Reardon and another from Josie Leonard to remain unbeaten.

Trinity has outscored its 5 opponents by a combined 31-4 and will next visit Jacksonville University Christian on Friday at 5 p.m.

Forest 1, West Port 1: At FHS, the Wolf Pack (5-2-1) will visit Lake Weir on Thursday at 6 p.m., while the Wildcats (3-0-1) will host Eustis on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Vanguard 5, Eastside 0: At EHS, the Knights (2-1) will visit Belleview on Thursday at 6 p.m.
