SHORELINE, Wash. - A man accused of crashing his car into another vehicle, killing a woman inside and injuring her two daughters, plead not guilty to vehicular homicide on Thursday.
King County Prosecutor's say Aiden Ott, 27, pled not guilty to vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and felony hit and run. He is being held on $300,000 bail.
On Nov. 16, Ott was reportedly driving southbound on Linden Ave N in Shoreline at a high rate of speed around 6 p.m., without headlights, when he crashed into a car heading eastbound on N 185th St, charging docs show.
According to court documents, the driver of the eastbound car was 45-year-old Diane Marx. She died at the scene. In the car was her 12-year-old daughter who lost consciousness, suffered a concussion and broken collar bone, and her 6-year-old daughter, who suffered minor injuries.
Ott's car also reportedly hit a second car, injuring a woman inside.
Heather Falkin is a friend of Marx. She said Marx was a loving human who was devoted to her family.
"It feels like she's going to walk in the door and that's the hardest part, is coming to term with the facts that she's not," Falkin said. "You just think about how precious life is and how important it is to hug your loved ones and tell them you love them every time they walk out the door," she said.
Reports show Ott ran after crashing his car, and was found by police about an hour later hiding in a shed.
Police said he told the officers his car was stolen along Aurora Ave N when he got out to smoke a cigarette.
Court documents show a Drug Recognition Expert Officer was called in and Ott admitted to drinking beer and taking Xanax and Adderall earlier that day. A blood draw was ordered.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 15.
Ott was also arrested Oct. 30 for reckless driving when he was picked up going 100 miles per hour on I-90. According to court documents, he failed to appear in court and had a bench warrant out for a past reckless driving charge out of Woodinville.
