The Brooklyn Nets have started to find their groove in recent weeks. Since starting the 2021-22 NBA season 2-3, they have gone 13-3, adjusting well to life without point guard Kyrie Irving.
Irving, who has yet to receive his COVID-19 vaccine, remains ineligible to play as a result. The Nets decided that unless he receives the vaccine and is eligible full-time that he would not play. As a result, he has been away from the team for the entirety of the season with no return imminent.
The only thing we have heard about Irving is that the Nets are now listening to trade offers for him. The Golden State Warriors are the only other team in the NBA that have to work around a mandate like the one in New York. Los Angeles implemented it, but the Staples Center and Microsoft Theater are going by other rules that were put in place previously.
According to Ian Begley of SNY, a trade could still be a possibility. Brooklyn remains to have open dialogue and be willing to listen.

“To that end, it’s worth noting that, as of late last month, Brooklyn remained open to talking trades involving Irving, per SNY sources. ESPN reported in late October that the Nets were taking calls on potential Irving trades, but not making them. In the weeks following that report, several teams said Brooklyn has continued to take that approach with the All-Star guard.”
Trade talks could pick up once again as the Brooklyn Nets’ roster is starting to thin out. In addition to Irving, the team will also be without Joe Harris for multiple weeks as he underwent ankle surgery.
Replacing one starter is hard enough to do, but two could be too much. Brooklyn is in good hands with Kevin Durant and James Harden leading the way, but they run the risk of running them into the ground riding them so much for the duration of the regular season.

Trading Kyrie Irving could help alleviate some of those concerns. While it is tough to figure out what Irving’s market is, as there is so much uncertainty surrounding him, Brooklyn would assuredly get some players in return that would help them in their quest for an NBA title.
