Central Falls man found guilty in connection to Pawtucket homicide
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE)- A Central Falls man was found guilty of second-degree murder on Monday, in connection to a homicide that happened in Pawtucket last fall.
The Rhode Island Attorney General’s office said that 22-year-old Jairo Esdel Galva was found guilty of the following:
- Second-degree murder
- Discharge of a firearm when committing a crime of violence resulting in death
- Discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle
- Carrying a pistol without a license
Galva shot and killed 22-year-old Joel Rosario on Halloween last year.
Witnesses said that Galva had flashed his high beams while he drove behind Rosario on Lonsdale Avenue.
Both Galva and Rosario were stopped at an intersection when Rosario got out of his vehicle and walked to the passenger’s window of Galva’s car.
At that point, Galva rolled down his window and shot Rosario in the chest with a pistol.
Rosario was rushed to Miriam hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Galva turned himself into police on November 4, 2020.
The date for Galva’s sentencing has not yet been determined.
