Carlos Santana cancels December 2021 House of Blues Vegas residency

Guitarist forced to cancel due to heart procedure

Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana has canceled all December 2021 dates of An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live at the House of Blues stage inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino as he recovers from an unscheduled procedure.

“I regret to inform you that the Santana band has canceled the remaining December 2021 performances at The House of Blues in Las Vegas,” says Michael Vrionis, President, Universal Tone Managemen. “Iconic band leader Carlos Santana had an unscheduled heart procedure that impacted his performance in Las Vegas. Carlos is doing fantastic and is anxious to be back on stage soon. He profoundly regrets that this ‘speed bump’ necessitated the cancellation of his upcoming performances. He is looking forward to seeing you all very soon.”

“Last Saturday I had an incident where I asked my wife [and drummer] Cindy [Blackman] to take me to the hospital because I had this thing happening in my chest,” the guitar legend shares in a video. “So we went there, we found out we had to take care of it. So I am, and I’m going to be taking time out for a little bit to make sure I replenish and I rest and I catch up with my health so that when I play for you I would play the way I’m used to and give you 150 percent. I wouldn’t show up unless I can do that, so other than that, I hope you and your family are enjoying good health and peace of mind.”

Santana is expected to return to the venue in January 2022. The Latin rock guitarist will also hit the road for the first time ever with Earth Wind & Fire in 2022 for the Miraculous Supernatural Tour. The trek, which has been postponed by the pandemic, will now start in June of 2022 throughout North America following the cancelation of the European trek last spring.
