North West Had the Most Fire 'Fit at Virgil Abloh's Last Show

Virgil Abloh's Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection was shown in Miami on November 30, and North West slipped into a slice of fashion history.

On November 28 news broke of cutting-edge designer Virgil Abloh's death from cancer at 41, just days before he was set to present his Spring/Summer 2022 collection for Louis Vuitton at an uptempo Miami-based show. Vuitton and Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, decided to still present the collection as planned, presenting it under the title “Virgil was here.”

Naturally, with Abloh's undeniable impact across the fashion industry and wider cultural sphere, the show saw some of the most famous figures in the world touch down at MIA, before heading to the Maritime Marina where a makeshift runway (and 50ft statue of Abloh) had been erected.

Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin' were along those in attendance, while Kid Cudi actually belted out a string of his synthy hits. Vuitton-clad Kim Kardashian and Kanye West put on a united front for the occasion, but it was actually their daughter, North West, that stole the show. Hands down.

The eight-year-old, who on your average day has a better wardrobe than we could ever dream of (think Balenciaga high-shine dresses, Yeezy sneaks, and hot pink Adidas tracksuits), slipped into one of the most sought-after pieces of menswear on the planet. Did we really expect less from Kanye’s daughter? Nope. North wore some of the first Abloh-designed clothing in existence. Her outfit was first introduced in 2012 as part of his now-defunct yet still much-loved Pyrex label. North's boxy T-shirt and shorts – which were made using upcycled Champion pieces – came with the “Pyrex 23” wording and the label's signature V design. Pyrex shuttered in 2013 but stands proudly as a predecessor to his hugely successful Off-White label.

Today legit Pyrex T-shirts, which originally sold at around £30 (or $40) during the year-long lifespan of the label, are available on resale sites such as StockX for £200 (around $270). Ouch.

Northy, you did good.
