Dana White has sensationally claimed that some UFC fighters are 'afraid' to fight one of the sport's biggest up-and-coming stars.

The UFC president has a couple of rising stars in his promotion, but no one appears to be getting the amount of hype like Khamzat Chimaev.

And the 52-year-old is in agreement with those who say fighters are 'afraid' to take on the undefeated phenom.

Chimaev, 27, has become one of the most feared fighters in the UFC having won four consecutive bouts inside the famed Octagon.

But White is struggling to match him up, saying nobody is trying to face 'Borz' - and he doesn't blame them.

"Nobody wants to fight this guy," he said via BJ Penn.

"Everybody wants to get out on social media and say this or say that."

White added: "But when it really comes down to it, nobody's trying to fight Khamzat Chimaev. I don't blame them.

"But at the end of the day when you're a professional fighter - this is what you do - you should look at a guy with as much hype and as much bravado as Chimaev has, as a huge opportunity."

Chimaev made a triumphant return following a period away from the sport as he battled with Covid-19.

He destroyed Li Jingliang at UFC 267, submitting him in the first round to earn a spot in the UFC welterweight rankings.

He's ranked No.11 at 170lbs as he seeks his next assignment ahead of potentially competing for UFC gold in 2022.
