Coroner’s office IDs man killed in shooting at Carolina Forest apartment complex; teen charged

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — The Horry County Coroner’s Office has identified the person killed Saturday in a shooting at a Carolina Forest apartment complex.

Sebastian Sanders, 18, of Marion, died on scene after being shot multiple times, according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

Devon Smith, 17, of Conway, is charged with murder in connection with the shooting. The shooting happened Saturday in the parking lot of Seaside Grove Apartments off River Oaks Drive, according to officials.

Officers were flagged down when they arrived by a witness who was giving first aid to the victim, according to the report.

Smith is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bond.
