TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Gov. Doug Ducey toured the Arizona Supersonic Wind Tunnel at UArizona Thursday and took part in a workplace development roundtable.
The Fiscal Year 2022 state budget will provide $3.5 million in wind tunnel infrastructure upgrades. The wind tunnel is a partnership between the university and Raytheon. It allows for research and development of equipment that can withstand the traveling faster than the speed of sound.
Following the tour of the wind tunnel, education representatives joined Ducey at the roundtable. They discussed the opportunities that are available in southern Arizona.
"There are high paying high tech jobs available everywhere in the state, specifically in Tucson, Pima County, and southern Arizona," Ducey said after. "The other thing is that people don't have to leave this beautiful part of the state to pursue their passion and pursue their career."
Ducey said that partnerships are a key to success in the state.
"We need partners in education and business to help Arizonans find meaningful work and ensure our small businesses can succeed," Ducey said.
