Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana announced on Wednesday that he has cancelled his December slate of his Las Vegas residency, An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live, after undergoing an unscheduled heart procedure recently.

A message from Santana’s representatives said Santana is looking forward to resuming the residency at the House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in January.

Here’s a short video statement from Santana addressing the situation:

Said Michael Vrionis, President, Universal Tone Management:

“I regret to inform you that the Santana band has canceled the remaining December 2021 performances at The House of Blues in Las Vegas. Iconic band leader Carlos Santana had an unscheduled heart procedure that impacted his performance in Las Vegas. Carlos is doing fantastic and is anxious to be back on stage soon. He profoundly regrets that this ‘speed bump’ necessitated the cancellation of his upcoming performances. He is looking forward to seeing you all very soon.”

Santana recently released a star-studded new album, Blessings and Miracles, that serves as a sequel of sorts to 1999’s Supernatural, and had a busy schedule of live performances on tap commemorating the album and his incredible catalog of music.

The December residency dates that have been cancelled are as follows:

Dec. 1, 3 – 5, 8, 10 – 12

Best wishes of healing to Carlos Santana and his team. Here’s hoping they’re able to resume the Vegas residency in January. The dates for that, pending any further developments:

Jan. 26, 28 – 30
Feb. 2, 4 – 6
May 18, 20 – 22, 25, 27 – 29
