At only 18 years old, the recording artist establishes himself as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, arriving with his own version of alternative rock while speaking his truth. In a world where the pressures of life can overtake you, the rising star provides healing in his music, speaking on his own mental health and reminding listeners to feel they’re not alone. 347aidan describes himself as “the future, because I’m the youth right now. I’m the type of artist and person who only succeeds in my mind by experimenting things, that in itself is also the future.” Fast forward to today, 347aidan unleashes his critically-acclaimed new EP titled _Chasing Harmony_ spearheaded by lead singles “HARMONY” and “SUPERSTAR!”, the latter of which just received its own visual treatment. The 5-track project also chronicles 347aidan’s own personal journey battling depression, showcasing strength and resilience as he triumphs his own insecurities. Flaunt caught up with 347aidan via Zoom, who was posted in his home in Los Angeles. Read below as we discuss his roots in Canada, how he got into music, his favorite artists, teaching himself how to record, his sound, how he got his name, dedicating “Harmony” to his late friend, releasing his EP, working with John Cunningham, goals, hobbies, fashion sense, and more! ![](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56c346b607eaa09d9189a870/22ec3f2f-e931-4c0c-b547-fc16fdb95a20/9915_0013-2+%281%29.jpg) **How was it growing up in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada?** It was cool, small town. Super small town, Not a lot of opportunities there, but definitely a lot of people who are in the same situation as you at the time. It feels like a big family.  **When did music come into play for you?** I first got into music when I was 4 or 5, but I didn’t fully get into it then. I just played piano because my sister started playing piano. I got really into it myself when I was 11 or 12.  **Do you remember the artist that made you fall in love with It?**  There’s a lot of artists that made me fall in love with music. Like XXXTentacion, Tyler The Creator, Mac Miller, definitely a lot of artists. The thing that really made me fall in love with it was making it myself.  **How did you learn how to record yourself?** I started on my phone. I didn’t even have a phone back then, I had some sort of Android tablet. I’d go on the video, screenrecord it, then I’d record a video and sing. I’d send the video of me singing to my other computer, I’d put it into this thing called Audacity. I’d find a random beat on YouTube and put that in there, then put vocals and beat together. That’s how it started. **How would you describe your own sound?**  Retro futuristic. When I make music, I get this vibe of something I’d listen to as a kid, but also I get a vibe of something I’ve never heard before. It’s really interesting. **How did you get your name?**  347 is an angel number, it means peace that comes with time. I like that because I feel my whole life is finding peace that will come with time. 347, peace lives forever Aidan.  **What does it mean to have such a vulnerable record like “HARMONY” out?** It feels like the roller coaster came to an end. The amount of anxiety that came with this release, especially in the last couple of weeks, was sitting at the top of the rollercoaster. Also the amount of excitement I had at the top of that rollercoaster, because it’s about to drop. Me dropping it was going through that last round of the rollercoaster. Now I’m super chill thinking “wow, that was awesome.” **The song is dedicated to your late friend, how does music help you cope?** Making music is my #1 way to cope. Using a friend who helped me so much in the path of making music with my confidence was the only right to do it. The only way I could find closure with myself is by making music around it. It’s definitely a good feeling to know it’s out in the world, it was a great way for me to honor her life. **What was your vision with the “HARMONY” music video?** I wanted to show this split world of me being in my childhood bedroom, but getting pulled out by real life situations and by tragedies. Also slight success which made me feel I was forced to grow up a lot quicker than some people, put into this whole new world where it’s very easy to sink and suffocate.  **Best memory from shooting?** Probably being in the air. It was like flying, except your legs hurt because the harness is really tight. Other than that, I was flying.  **What do you do for self-care?** Nothing really, music I guess. I wouldn’t say I don’t do self-care, but I wouldn’t say I do things just for self-care either. I go with the flow a lot. If I wake up one day feeling terrible, then I go with it. Sometimes I smoke, that’s cool. That’s probably not helping my mental health though. Music for sure.  **What are you most excited for with your EP, _Chasing Harmony_?** I’m really excited for my EP, that’s the same situation as being on the rollercoaster. For that one, for some reason the roller coaster hasn’t even started yet. Probably because I’ve never dropped an EP before or an album, I have no clue what to expect. I’m getting pre-anxiety, pre-extreme excitement even though it came super soon. I definitely looked forward to the feeling I had the day it did drop.  **How was it working with John Cunningham?** Working with John was amazing, very much a full circle moment for me. He DMed me on Instagram at the beginning of 2020. At this time, I was still in school. I said “bro I’m gonna come out to LA, to come hang and make some music.” And I did, my mom let me take time off school. How it all ended up is from that day forward, I never really went to school again. I did it all online because that moment spiraled to a bunch of different things.  **3 things you need in the studio?** Microphone, headphones, and a computer. That’s all I need. I got it right here: my microphone, my speaker, and I’m on my laptop now. **What motivates you the most when you are recording?**  Probably myself, because there’s always room to climb up the ladder. For me, there’s a lot of room to climb up the ladder so that’s really motivating.  **Goals yourself as an artist at this point of your career?** I won’t say I have indefinite goals because that’s crazy to pin yourself to one thing. I have a lot of mini-goals, like milestones I want to hit. Places I want to go in the world, talk to people who are fans of me. Internal goals are making music better than the music I make now, and improving everything that I do.  **Being only 18, what do you like to do for fun?** Music, video games, smoke, that’s about it. Draw, write, watch TV, I’d say a pretty normal life. Right now I’m watching _Money Heist,_ it’s really good. **How would you describe your fashion sense?** It depends on the day and my mood. Sometimes I dress super boring. Sometimes I dress like I don’t care. Sometimes I dress like it’s the last time I’m ever going to be seen on earth, it all depends on my mood. I really like Alexander McQueen and Rick Owens a lot.  **Any collabs in the works?** I have a song with this girl named Renforshort, which is really exciting on the EP. I’ve done some other collabs too in the background which aren’t coming to life yet, but they will one day.  **Anything you’d like to let the people know?** Follow what makes you happy and don’t listen to what anyone else says. That’s what my mentality is.
