Women's Hockey Collects Codfish Bowl Championship

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team comes back to Maine as Codfish Bowl Champions following a 4-2 win over host UMass-Boston on Sunday.
 
The Polar Bears picked up their second consecutive win on the weekend and climb to 2-2-0. The Beacons are 4-5-0 on the year.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored quickly to take an early lead and never looked back. Izzi Stoddard put the Polar Bears on the board just 37 seconds in the game. Julia Surgenor had the assist.
  • Elly Whitmore scored just under three minutes into the game, with assists from Stoddard and Surgenor.
  • Peyton Mulhern continued the quick scoring trend with a goal 1:11 into the second. Gia  Massari and Kiley Briand added helpers on the team's third tally.
  • UMass-Boston chipped away with goals in the second and third to make it 3-2, before Stoddard iced the game with an unassisted empty-netter with 41 seconds remaining.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Beacons were 0-for-3 on the power play.
  • Meagan Miranda made 34 saves for the Polar Bears.
  • Victoria Kennedy had 30 stops for UMass-Boston.
