In this 1941 photo, the Gleason family women pose in front of the old Corry High School building, which was located on Spring Street between West South and West Pleasant Streets in Corry. The building has since been demolished. From left are: Janey Gleason, her mother Thelma holding her daughter Betty, and Janey's sister Norma, at right. The Gleason family lived across the street from the school. The photo, submitted by Norma Gleason's daughter Mary Ann Granaham, was originally published in the 2003 Erie history photo book, "Erie Reflections, Volume Two," produced by the Erie Times-News.
This is a 1930 photo of State Street in Erie, looking north, from Seventh Street.
The same view of State Street at Seventh Street is shown on Tuesday.
Penn State Behrend student Manal Malik prays five times each day in her dormitory room at the Harborcreek Township college. Shown on Dec. 3, 2007, Malik, who is Muslim, made a pilgrimage to Mecca in 2003.
Looking southwest, the first downhill section of the Ravine Flyer II roller coaster is shown, Nov. 30, 2007, under construction at Waldameer Park & Water World in Millcreek Township. The wooden roller coaster opened on May 17, 2008.
