Sandra Bullock’s red carpet style is timeless. The star never fails to delight at big events, and her love of labels like Elie Saab, Vivienne Westwood, and Alberta Ferretti has made her one of Hollywood’s best-dressed women. Still, when you consider the celebrity most likely to step out wearing a metallic catsuit, Bullock’s name probably isn’t first on that list. Last night in Los Angeles, however, the Oscar winner took her look in a bold new direction, arriving at the premiere of her new drama The Unforgivable Bullock in a statement piece from Stella McCartney’s spring 2022 runway

Golden and detailed with thousands of reflective crystals, Bullock’s catsuit turned heads. With its long sleeves and turtleneck, the McCartney piece didn’t reveal any skin, but it managed to be sexy, especially when paired with the tousled waves and smoky black eyeliner Bullock and her glam-squad chose for the evening. Stylist Elizabeth Stewart finished off the look with a black satin blazer, coordinated pouch clutch from Tyler Ellis, Lorraine Schwartz's drop earrings and Le Silla's Eva pumps, carrying the sparkling theme from head to toe.

Catsuits are currently trending thanks to stars like Bullock, Hailey Bieber, and Bella Hadid. Always a favorite of risk-takers—Lady Gaga picked up her ‘Tricon’ award at the 2020 VMAs in Valentino's haute couture version and Rihanna took Gucci’s glittery Fall 2017 version to Coachella—the piece is perfect for performers. Still, if Bullock’s understated take on the trend proves anything, it’s that the look can be equally impactful when worn by those whose tastes skew classic.
