Sir Alex Ferguson already knows who's the best person to lead Manchester United after Ralf Rangnick, as per a report.

New Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has already been at Old Trafford and was shown around the stadium's ground by club's football director John Murtough on Wednesday.

The 63-year-old is currently preparing for work but the buzz around the club continues with Sir Alex Ferguson believed to have already picked his bet to lead his beloved club for good.

Apparently, the legendary former Red Devils boss sees Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino as the one who could “turn the fortunes of Manchester United around,” according to journalist and The Sportsman contributor Peter O'Rourke.

“If they're going to ask for Alex Ferguson's advice, I'm sure he will definitely put forward [Mauricio] Pochettino as somebody who could maybe turn the fortunes of Manchester United around,” O'Rourke said via Give Me Sport.

Manchester United has made it clear that Rangnick will continue to work as a technical advisor after leading the club en route the end of the current season.

As for Michael Carrick, the club's caretaker manager, he's not really pushing to get back to being first-team manager once Rangnick departs but his desire to become a manager is certainly there.

“It certainly hasn’t put me off, no,” Carrick admitted via Manchester Evening News. “But at the same point, I’m not suddenly desperate to become a manager. I’m realistic and the experience has definitely helped me from the lows and the sadness of Ole leaving to having to adapt and getting through the games. It has been a challenge but one I’ve enjoyed.”
