Dragons ready to tip off basketball season

Squeaks of shoes and snaps of dribbles can now be heard in Holyoke JR/SR High School’s new gym as the Dragon basketball team prepares for the upcoming season.

“I’m pretty excited,” said coach Colbey Stumpf. “We’ve got a lot of talent, and if we can get them to work together, we can have a lot of success this year.”

Stumpf said he and assistant coach Marcus Kammer will emphasize effort as a top priority for the players, as well as playing together as good teammates. Stumpf added that he wants the team to work on their speed up and down the court and play faster this season.

“I’m looking forward to building as a team and growing,” Stumpf said. “Building a team environment and atmosphere is something I’m stressing.”
