MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - A pole fell down on a truck in South Beach Wednesday.

The fall came as people walked and biked along 14th Street between Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive.

“This pole just went ‘wham,'” said witness Jane Krupp.

“You hear it crash down on his truck, ‘bam,'” said witness Jeff Cintron. “It was only a matter of time.”

He took a video from his balcony after witnessing the light pole slamming down on the truck and said this incredibly close call Wednesday was bound to happen.

“Oh, what’s that? Just a light pole resting on a truck,” said Cintron in the video. “Told you, one day, one of these trucks gonna come by and rip it all down.”

According to neighbors, some low-hanging connective wires spanned from this pole all the way to where the other pole was until the truck came through.

“As the truck drove down, it just got caught on the top of it there and just pulled the entire light pole down,” said Cintron.

Cintron said in the recent past, he’s called FPL and Atlantic Broadband about the wires and said both companies contend the wires aren’t theirs.

“Now they’ll come and fix it,” said Cintron.

Miami Beach Police and Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and worked the accident.

The City of Miami Beach told 7News, “This is highly unusual and our public works department is conducting a complete investigation to determine the cause of failure.”

“That wire was way too low for these 18-wheelers, and these really tall trucks to be coming through here,” said Cintron.

Nobody was hurt.

“He’s lucky it didn’t smash his windshield because he would’ve been gone. Fortuitously, nobody was hurt,” said Krupp, “could’ve been complete disaster.”

Police are investigating the incident.
