Special Olympics Wyoming to host annual Festival of Trees

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Special Olympics Wyoming is preparing to host their 33rd Annual Festival of Trees and Teddy Bear Tea. This is the first major event the organization will host since the pandemic began.

“I’m looking forward to having everyone come back together for the event. We’ll have a lot of athletes that will be attending, everybody will be dressed up, and really just ready to kick off the holiday season,” said Jen Haines, the CEO of Special Olympics Wyoming.

This event is Special Olympics Wyoming’s largest annual fundraiser. Funds raised at the event help provide programs to athletes. In 2021, more than 1,600 athletes were able to participate in program at no cost to them or their families. The festivities begin this Saturday at the Clarion Inn. The Teddy Bear Tea kicks off the day with a sneak peak of the festival from 1-3 PM. Entry to the Teddy Bear Tea is free with a donation of a teddy bear, hat, or mittens. The Festival of Trees is an auction of fully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, stockings, and items donated by individuals and local businesses. It begins at 5 PM.

“My favorite part of Festival of Trees is when you get to see all the athletes and you get to help out and party,” said Molly Blomstrom, an athlete and office assistant for Special Olympics Wyoming.
